Humantay Lake - Cusco

A turquoise lake at the foot of the snow-capped Humantay peak, in the heart of the Vilcabamba mountain range. An unforgettable hike from Cusco.

Trip Overview

Experience one of the most breathtaking adventures in Cusco. We set off before dawn to Mollepata, where we have breakfast, and continue to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike. From there, we climb for about an hour and a half up to Humantay Lake, at around 4,200 m (13,780 ft) above sea level. Its turquoise waters reflect the Humantay glacier, revered as a sacred Apu by Andean communities. It is a perfect setting for photography and connecting with nature. After enjoying the views, we hike back down, have lunch in Mollepata and return to Cusco in the afternoon.
